Student loans is currently the largest form of debt Americans carry, prompting the Department of Education to explore ways of making college more affordable for Americans. Legislation has been enacted that will make the government the sole distributor of federal loans, and changes to repayment plans will make it easier for recent graduates to keep up with their payments.
