MBAF ERE's Jack Brister, MBA, TEP and director of the international tax and private client services, recently spoke at the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP) Bahamas. The conference held Feb. 9 in Nassau, Bahamas, provided an update on the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) rules affecting offshore financial institutions as well as the new Offshore Voluntary Disclosures.
Brister's presentation focused on comments received by the U.S. Treasury Department from the professional community, and specifically addressed which provisions would affect financial institutions the most.
