 August foreclosure filings rise- August foreclosure filings rise

Mortgage loan defaults continue to negatively impact the real estate market as more homeowners lose their properties to foreclosure. The most recent data from RealtyTrac shows foreclosure filings increased 4 percent in August, with 338,836 properties receiving a notice. Although last month's rate increased, the overall number of filings is a 5 percent decline from the rate recorded in August 2009.
